It all began in 1945. While curses have crumbled, one is still standing proud.

William Sianis, a Greek immigrant and owner of a nearby tavern, came to Wrigley Field with two box seat tickets for the fourth game of the 1945 World Series between the Cubs and the Tigers. One ticket was for him and the other for his pet goat, Murphy. A squad of ushers at the stadium failed to keep Sianis and his pet billy goat out of the ball park. Once inside the stadium, Billy Goat Sianis took the goat onto the playing field, causing an uproar from the crowd before ushers intervened to end the stunt. More
